Envinate’s 2021 Táganan Blanco is not your easy, anonymous porch white. This is one of Spain’s most compelling island whites — grown on steep volcanic cliffs above the Atlantic on Tenerife, made from a field blend of old-vine native varieties, and fermented parcel by parcel with wild yeasts.
The result? A wine that feels like it was built from salt air, stone, citrus peel, and sea spray.

Tasting Notes
In the glass: Pale gold to straw with a subtle haze of energy — not flashy, just alive.
On the nose: Citrus peel, white flowers, just-ripe apricot, sea salt, volcanic smoke, and crushed stone. Importer and merchant notes consistently point to a profile that is saline, smoky, and Atlantic-driven, with layered orchard and citrus fruit.
On the palate: Lemon pith, quince, stone fruit, mineral tension, and a distinctly salty core. Some parcels see a touch of skin contact, which adds subtle grip and shape. The finish is long, savory, and mouthwatering — more coastline than fruit salad.
Structure: Medium-bodied but driven by tension. There’s freshness here, but also texture from lees aging and a little phenolic edge. Decanter described the 2021 as having “scintillating salty-mineral acidity” with pithy citrus and just-ripe apricot.
The Story
“Táganan” is the old local name for a rugged vineyard zone on the northeastern side of Tenerife, where vines are planted “wild” on primary volcanic rock on cliffs just above the Atlantic Ocean. The parcels are old, often mixed-planted with native Canary Island white grapes, and farmed by hand in partnership with local families because the terrain is simply too steep and rugged for modern convenience.
The wine is made from a blend of indigenous white varieties — including Listán Blanco, Albillo Criollo, Marmajuelo, Gual, and Malvasía, plus some unidentified old-vine material depending on parcel. Each parcel is fermented separately with wild yeasts, some lots see gentle skin contact, and the wine is aged on the lees for around 8 months in a mix of steel and neutral barrels.
This is not “beach wine.”
This is Atlantic wine.
