The wine is 100% Nebbiolo from the Monvigliero Vineyard in Barolo DOCG, with a harvest beginning October 9, 14.5% alcohol, and élevage of 18 months in 25 hL oval, unroasted barrels, followed by 6–12 months in bottle before release.

The 2020 shows delicate floral notes, wild strawberries, and raspberries, with a palate that is rounded and pleasant while still holding graceful fruit. It leans a little darker, highlighting cherry, black currant, licorice, eucalyptus, and spice, plus ample grip and excellent length. Put together, this is a Barolo with elegance first, but still enough structure underneath to feel like the real thing.

Think roast duck, a quieter dinner, and a bottle that gets more articulate the longer it sits in the glass.

What makes this wine work is that it seems to hold both sides of Barolo at once. The floral, high-toned red fruit notes make it inviting, while the darker fruit, licorice, eucalyptus, and grip keep it grounded. Monvigliero itself is often associated with finesse within Barolo.
