2022 Darby Winery “Le Deuce” White, Columbia Valley, USA 🇺🇸
The Moment
Some white blends are built around brightness.
Others are built around richness with enough lift to keep you coming back.
The 2022 Darby Winery “Le Deuce” White lands beautifully in that second category — a Rhône-inspired white that feels generous and layered, but still fresh enough to keep dinner moving. A blend of 59% Viognier and 41% Roussanne from Stillwater Creek Vineyard and Konnowac Vineyard, with a profile full of stone fruit, citrus, mango, chamomile, and honeysuckle.
What gives this wine extra shape is the élevage. The Viognier spent 6 months in stainless steel, while the Roussanne spent 6 months in neutral French oak. That split makes a lot of sense stylistically: the Viognier keeps the aromatics vivid and clean, while the Roussanne brings texture and a little softness underneath. The result sounds like a white with real body, but not one that turns heavy.
What It Feels Like
Think grilled shrimp, warm evening light, something creamy or spicy on the table, and a white that feels plush at first sip but finishes cleaner than expected.
What makes this bottle work is the way all the moving parts pull in the same direction. Mango, pear, stone fruit, chamomile, honeysuckle, and citrus, with body and texture. A wine that feels broad enough for richer food, but still animated by acidity. In shop terms, this is the kind of white that can win over both Chardonnay drinkers and people who want something a little more aromatic.

A White Blend With Real Presence
This is not a lean aperitif white.Richness, body, and texture, which gives the wine real dinner-table versatility.
Viognier And Roussanne Is A Great Combination
The 2022 blend gives you Viognier’s floral fruit and Roussanne’s breadth, which is a very good lane when you want a white that feels both expressive and grounded.
