2024 Chateau Haut Rian Blanc, Bordeaux, France
The Moment
Some white Bordeaux wines are built around softness.
Others are built around snap.
The 2024 Château Haut-Rian Blanc lands beautifully in that second lane — bright, unoaked, citrusy, and clean, with just enough Sémillon roundness underneath to keep it from feeling too sharp. A blend of 60% Sémillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc, with fresh, heady aromatics, a clean and zippy palate, and clear citrus and mineral notes. Lime, lemon rind, honeydew, and even a hint of seashells, which feels exactly right for the kind of bottle this is.
This is very much a “house white” style in the best sense: uncomplicated, refreshing, and genuinely useful. Unoaked, dry, and meant to be enjoyed young, cool, and fresh.
What It Feels Like
Think sole piccata on the table, a chilled bottle already sweating a little, and a white that wakes everything up without needing a speech.
What makes this wine work is the way Sauvignon Blanc’s citrus and freshness meets the softer side of Sémillon. Bright aromatics, a zippy citrus palate, mineral lift, and an easygoing freshness that makes it work both as an apéritif and with food. Lightly creamy or slightly waxy side, which makes sense given the Sémillon in the blend, but the dominant impression still feels crisp, dry, and bright.

Why We Love This Bottle
Classic White Bordeaux Energy
The 60/40 Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc blend gives you both freshness and just enough breadth to keep the wine feeling complete.
Unoaked And Straight To The Point
This is not a layered, barrel-influenced white. It is clean, citrusy, and mineral — the kind of bottle that does exactly what you want it to do.
A True Fridge-Door White
A perfect apéritif and an ideal young-drinking dry white, which makes it a great candidate for your “always good to have around” section.
